These Are the Hottest Zip Codes in the U.S. Real Estate Right Now. Did Yours Make the List?

The hottest places to live in America right now are in some of the coolest parts of the country.

The top ZIP Codes were located in suburbs of larger cities in the Northeast and Midwest, according to a Realtor.com report. These are the kinds of places buyers can nab a larger home for less while still being in commuting distance of good jobs.

“The hottest ZIP codes reflect areas that tick a lot of boxes for a lot of buyers,” said Realtor.com Chief Economist Danielle Hale. “As a result, they're relatively competitive.”

This year, Beverly, Mass. was home to the hottest ZIP Code. The ZIP 01915 is part of the Boston metropolitan area, about 25 miles northeast of Beantown.

The median home list price in the ZIP was $719,000 in June, according to Realtor.com. While that’s considerably higher than in other parts of the country (where the typical price tag was $441,000), it’s less than surrounding areas.

Homes in this Beverly ZIP cost about 15.9% less than the median list price in the Boston metro area of $855,000 in June.

“Beverly residents have access to scenic coastline, local beaches, public parks and green space, along with a thriving arts community and dining scene,” North Shore REALTORS President Adeline Matton said in a statement. “Residents are also well connected to the greater region with direct train lines to Boston and easy commuter access.”

In the Northeastern hottest ZIPs, prices were generally lower than in the surrounding metro. However, in the Midwest, the hottest ZIPs typically had higher home prices.

It can pay off for home sellers to live in one of these ZIPs. These properties receive between 3.3 to 5.2 more page views and sell 30 to 42 days faster than the national average.

“Shoppers who want to snag a home in these ZIPs are going to need to act quickly to put together a compelling offer when they see something they like,” said Hale.

Buyers in these areas typically have higher incomes, credit scores, and larger down payments than in other parts of the country.

To come up with its findings, the listings portal looked at market demand, based on the number of unique visitors per property, and the how quickly homes sold. The report looked at listings data from January through June on its portal. Only one ZIP Code per metropolitan area was included.
