While we are grateful that our loan ultimately closed, our experience with the loan processing side was very frustrating and could have been handled much better.
Our loan processor frequently contacted us outside of normal business hours by email. However, when we attempted to reach her during or outside of business hours, it was extremely difficult to get in touch with her.
Throughout the process, we were asked to provide the same documents multiple times—at least five occasions. Each time, we submitted the exact same documents that had already been provided. We also rarely received confirmation that our documents had been received, leaving us unsure whether anything had been successfully uploaded or reviewed.
When we sent emails requesting clarification or guidance, our questions were often ignored. Instead of addressing our concerns, we would simply receive another request for additional documentation, sometimes for documents we had already submitted several times.
I believe the processor's lack of organization contributed to our closing date being delayed, which resulted in additional costs and unnecessary fees.
Communication surrounding our closing was also disappointing. We were informed that closing would take place the following day after all paperwork had supposedly been finalized on the loan office's end. However, we were never provided with the closing location or time until much later, making it difficult to coordinate with my work schedule.
On the day of closing, despite being assured that everything was ready, the title company was still waiting on additional documentation from the loan office. We were informed that we could not proceed without it. The required documents were not received until approximately 15 minutes before our scheduled closing time, creating unnecessary stress during what should have been an exciting milestone.
Overall, better organization, timely communication, acknowledgment of received documents, and more responsive customer service would have made our experience significantly better.
