As a former Vice President and Chief Underwriter for one of the largest lenders in the country, Gary Twitchell has been involved in historic changes in the mortgage industry. His team developed the first adjustable rate mortgage back in 1981 (the fixed market rate was at 17.5% and the ARM allowed consumers to buy at 10%), he was among the first FHA DE underwriters in the state of California, had a two day a week radio show where people could call in with mortgage questions, and did TV commercials about reverse mortgages (even before Robert Wagner). He views change as inevitable and chooses to roll with the tide, keeping abreast of legislative and other important mortgage banking legislation so he's well informed.
