Review by Gigi Wolf for New Petrillo

Heather Petrillo, like many mortgage agents, is only interested in her bottom line. She will lie about the most basic requirements of getting a mortgage and shrug it off as "just business as usual." People are real tired of businesses and organizations dealing dirty, committing fraud, and getting off scot free. Every single day we hear about it. NAF is no different. Ms Petrillo made very specific promises to me that ultimately proved false. After checking eligibility, NAF threw in a co-borrower requirement after a month or more of having my information. Besides having my SS, I work full time for 3 school districts in the tri-state area. First, my income and job are fine, and then they're not. This happened after I had started a move to a new location based on my talks with her. (I spoke to other lenders too, and what's funny is that they call each other liars.) Then she made very specific promises to both me and my co-borrower about when he could be removed from the loan through a refinance. She promised us both 6 months. It is now closing in on 2 years. We're both seniors. NAF has no motivation to do anything after the loan is closed, so promises mean nothing. Their "customer care" is non-existent. No one even called me back until I after I contacted the CFO of NAF. Ms Petrillo even refused to check the eligibility of my son to replace the current co-borrower. I have filed a complaint with the AZ attorney general's office and the consumer complaint department that handles mortgage companies. The fact that we need an agency to keep lenders honest should tell us all we need to know about them.

I never once talked to this loan officer and he did not return phone calls. now I am currently reading that his title is sales manager this has been the worst experience with NAF thus far.

Review by Leesa Hilty for Chris Richardson

Too many details to share. This VA loan transaction was mismanaged from the start. In my 30 years in real estate, I've never experienced any loan transaction that was handled with such incompetency. This was a VA loan and our Veterans deserve better. From an appraisal that was supposedly ordered in late March that never was actually ordered which led to a failed closing in mid May when it was discovered the day before closing that the VA appraisal wasn't ordered at all resulting in a 2 week delay that resulted in over-stressed buyers and nearly cost the buyers their home. The lack of communication was appalling and unprofessional. It was so bad that the SE Div. EVP was contacted to intervene. When the closing finally took place on June 5, the closing package was delivered from NAF to the closing attorney an hour later than the scheduled closing time, the loan wasn't funded in time to record the deed transfer (NC is an attorney closing state) on a Friday afternoon which resulted in yet another delay for both the seller and buyer until recording on Monday June 8. I understand people make mistakes however with the experience and knowledge that Chris Richardson and her team have, this kind of mismanagement should not have happened. I hope they have learned from this transaction and will put procedures in place so that it doesn't happen to another buyer.

Unfortunately my clients and I experienced dishonest practice and unprofessionalism from Dennis. The biggest issue we had is that he insisted on speaking to them over the phone so there wasn't a paper trail of "promises" that would later be broken. Being that English was their second language, they asked on multiple occasions that he would send emails so that they could have the opportunity for translation and digestion. At one point, he told them not to worry that the lock was ending 5/20 (even though closing was 5/29) because he could just make the adjustment later. Then they were charged a lock extension and all of a sudden he says that it was originally supposed to close on 5/20, which was not the case.

The communication was awful. I asked from the beginning about things that may need to happen and didn't get a response until a few days before our close date. We did NOT close on time. The ball was dropped or this file was ignored completely until the last minute.
