Not to held the borrower hostages e during the process of the loan. He was very kind at the introduction of it, but changed the strategy in the middle of the process.

I think there should more communication on how your loan process is handled. Also that all the information is told up front (like having reserves). The pros and cons of the different loans.

I was disappointed that after review from CHFA when my loan amounts needed to change that no one took the time to call it out and explain it to me. All documents sent to me for electronic signature were asked in a rush and so I did not have the time or expertise to realize this was changing my overall loan amount and therefore my monthly payments. It was not until I showed up at the lawyer's office for closing that I realized the change and was not happy it had not been explained to me. Everyone was friendly and answered my questions while trying to obtain my business, but once the ball was rolling, there was a lack of communication and explanation. Being a first time home buyer, this was frustrating.

It seemed that there was NO sense of urgency to close the loan in accordance with the contract closing date. And there was very little reason given for the delay in closing! The title officers were left with no explanation which could have put our transaction in jeopardy

Review by Rachele Barker for Jason Scully

Completed transaction on May 14, 2026

I requested guidance weeks in advance of closing regarding what was needed from me for a smooth closing process. I shouldn't have had to seek this out, it should've been offered directly. My loan officer neglected to respond to multiple emails until only 4 days before closing, with time-sensitive requirements that could've been done weeks in advance if she'd answered my first requests for guidance. Closing almost didn't happen on time and was unnecessarily frustrating, causing multiple other issues outside the transaction. There were multiple documents and steps that could've been sent sooner to avoid the emergency-style closing experience that my realtor and escrow officer had to deal with. Jason provided decent support overall but could've stepped in sooner when it became clear I was struggling. I would’ve appreciated better expectations lined out early on about what would be needed from me. I made it clear from the beginning that I was a first time home buyer and needed support for success through the process. Sarah responded with attitude on assumptions she made regarding my level of knowledge of the closing process, despite my being extremely quick to respond and comply with documentation when properly requested of me. I had a very different plan in mind for transfer of funds than she did, but she never communicated her expectations (again, despite my requests for information), leading to a very poor experience. I will not be recommending NAF to anyone based on this interaction. Additionally, Sarah neglected to include my earnest money in the CD, and no one instructed me on what was needed to do this early in the process. I’m shocked that I’m the one who made this discovery and that it wasn’t caught sooner. Additionally, Sarah had access to at least 1/2 the documentation she requested of me at the last minute in my NAF portal. If that’s what was holding her back and she had access to it the whole time, I hope you understand my frustration. Why have a portal if it’s not being used? My appraisal was also never sent to me. I had to request it almost a full week after NAF received it. Overall, I did not appreciate Sarah’s lack of communication or style. I had a 45 days before closing window, which is more than enough time to ensure my loan was processed properly and in a timely manner. I was extremely close to walking out on this deal with NAF and finding a new lender, and I truly wish I had. I’d been thinking about it for at least two weeks before closing and should’ve listened to my intuition.

Review by Olivia L McGah for Washington Ryles

Completed transaction on May 13, 2026

Washington was great at being available in the beginning of the process, and was very reassuring. However, once things got into final stages, he wasn't as easily accessible. However, Amy Martin was terrible about communication, would sen d emails requesting bank information without explanation and there was a lot of last minute documents that were requested, like an updated drivers license, 4 business days before closing, when they had had this for almost a month already. My husband and I were so excited about buying our first home, and once things were placed over to Amy, the process was terrible and a lot of extra stress and anxiety was created with her lack of communication and explanation of the proces. this was the first time we have been through this process, and we felt like just another herd of cattle being pushed through. If things were better explained and actual communication had ocured, it would not have been as bad. I would not refer anyone to use new American funding, based off of my expierence. This was an aweful expierence and I would never want to be held responsible for referring someone to this company and have them feel like we did.

Review by Melissa Marsh for Clay Davis

Completed transaction on May 7, 2026

the beginning, Clay was super helpful and communicated very well. Once this process moved past him, we experienced multiple delays, conflicting information when we did receive communication. But communication was rare. This was one of the worst transactions I have ever experienced in my six years of doing real estate I received multiple complaints about new American funding Amy and Clay from my clients, my Transaction Coordinator, and the attorney's office my broker in charge also experienced conflicting information, lack of communication and dishonesty. To say we were disappointed with this transaction and the multiple delays is an understatement Although I do not feel the whole blame should be placed on Clay's shoulders. I do hope that whomever this team works with again is not my client.
