New American does not communicate well. If you want answers or guidance during your process, you won’t get it here. They’re all very kind when you speak, which is a plus, but they’re shockingly unreachable.

The level of communication throughout each stage of the process wasn’t what I’m used to or what I was expecting. Brennan was really helpful initially, but once we were in the loan process, there were multiple occasions when I had to reach out to more than one person to find out what was going on, what I needed to do, whether we were on track, etc. When dollar amounts changed, there was no phone call to explain why, and I was charged a loan origination fee when I was told it would be waived.

It seemed the process took to long. At the time of the closing we found out about a problem that New American Funding knew about but did not tell us about until 2 days before closing. It was stated that this was not our problem, but it sure turned out to be after it cost us over $400. I wish they would have informed us when they knew about it, maybe it could have been solved sooner and not cost us the extra money.

- I was asked to sign an initial loan disclosure that had wrong numbers (but was assured it was okay). - Senior Processor never got back to me re: why I was paying daily interest on the new loan before it funded. - Final numbers on the loan disclosure brought to closing by the Notary were different from the last loan disclosure I was asked to sign. - During closing, a wrong form was included in the packet to sign and the after-hours rep. the Notary called gave advice to "just sign everything."

I applied for preapproval more than a month prior to having a home under contract, but was never given approval in the entire time leading up to the contract. I understand business is busy right now, but I was proactive and through out that entire time did everything in my power to receive that approval. I felt like my business was less important than other customers, that's not OK, especially when I'm being proactive and potentially helping advance the loan.
