I find it strange to begin with that every review for every loan office here on Zillow for New American Funding is 5 stars. I doubt if mine will be published.
I applied for a loan with Steve Brady at American Funding and also at my local Credit Union. I am selling my home to my daughter, as I am re-married and living in my husband's house. I only owe $140,000. It appraised last year for $540,000. I own two rental condos that are paid for. I don't even count those in my income. I am an RN still working, get social security, and a retirement pension. My credit scores per Steve Brady were all over 800. I have only one real debt after my house is sold which is a $370 car payment. I have no balances on credit cards, if I do the total is less than 300$. I told Steve obviously the loan is contingent on selling my house to eliminate that loan and he knew that because he sent an e-mail about it.
I was told I could not qualify for ANY amount. Why? My credit union has pre-approved a loan for a balance of $140,000. I plan on having a balance of closer to 50,000 . I would just like a reason from Steve Brady, and have asked with no answer, why I can not qualify for anything.
I really think New American Funding does not want to bother with a small loan amount. They also pretty much ignored responding to my application. It took them weeks.
Very poor service.

From the initial phone call, Brenda was professional, cordial and gave me the impression I was a most valued customer with NAF. She got her team to work immediately and our refinance was accomplished quickly. During the entire short process, we were advised of exactly what was happening and what steps were needed to complete the process.

Dude wouldn't stop pestering me for a review even after I asked him to stop. Process went well, had too many cooks in the kitchen at one point and they weren't all on the same page.

We contacted First Cal to get pre-approved for a loan. We were contacted by Rene Alvarado and submitted an application and all the relevant documents by December 1. Rene wrote to me that afternoon to say that he had some questions about the documents, but that we would get the pre qualification letter the next day. And then nothing. On December 11, a week and a half later, I wrote asking about the status of our application. It is now December 20 and we have still heard nothing. We're obviously a bit disappointed, as the time period during which we can get another hard credit check without a ding on our score has passed. It's possible that Rene had some sort of emergency, but if so, someone at First Cal should have followed up on his applications. The fact that we have not had any further contact is inexcusable.

Gregory.hart@caliberhomeloans.com never communicated to me. I had to call or email him several times regarding our refinance, he told me wrong information on several occasions. We started the process in July 2020 and finally closed oct 2020. The only reason we were able to close in October is I called and requested to speak to anyone other than Gregory Hart. After speaking to another person, we closed within 2 weeks. I promptly return any paperwork that was requested within a day

A more timely result. Over 4 months seems Way to long.

I can understand that this particular file was challenging. I do expect timely honest communication from the lenders I work with even if changes need to be made along the way. I think if better communication had happened I might have been more tolerant.
