Tried to get a home improvement loan. The woman handling my account was friendly, but after over 3 months of bouncing around, ended up over $1,200 in the hole, over $700 of it charged to my account after the fact, and without my knowledge, or warning. Dropped my credit score considerably. Ended up getting a loan elsewhere. No home improvement, just a credit consolidation.

Dealing with this company was a nightmare. We went through NAF to purchase our home at the end of 2015 through the beginning of 2016--the people who are saying that they over-promise and under-deliver are absolutely, 100% correct. Due to some pre-existing issues with the house, we had worked out a deal with the seller to get a sum back at closing in order to perform needed repairs, and we were promised by NAF that we'd get those funds (to the tune of ~$6500). Lo and behold, come closing time, that money has mysteriously disappeared into NAF's pockets, and we're now only getting a small portion of our deposit back instead. Now, suddenly, they conveniently had all these reasons why we wouldn't be getting this money that was promised. Further, we were promised that we would get our keys once we closed. This was important as my girlfriend was deploying, and she wanted to spend at least a night in our new house before leaving. Another big lie, as it took almost a week after closing (and several days after her leaving) for us to receive the keys to the home we'd already bought. Imagine how upset my girlfriend was knowing that not only would she not be able to even go inside our new house for 6 more months, but we would also be stuck holding the bag for repairs because of NAF's greed. Luckily, our landlord at the time was very, very understanding as NAF told us "any time now" every single day. BLUF: they are a dirty, unethical, bait-and-switch type company. Avoid if you can. The only reason we didn't get up and walk out at the closing was due to the sizable, non-refundable deposit we'd already put down. Now, 3 years later and we're still with NAF for some reason. It just hasn't really been practical to refinance after such a short time. However, we're now preparing for another military deployment and New American Funding is making it extremely difficult for us to utilize the benefits ensured under the California Military Families Financial Relief Act. The majority of the creditors have been reasonable, and some were even happy to assist a military family facing a deployment. NAF, however, has demanded many, many more documents and applications than is called for under section 800(b) of the code, and is making it blatantly clear that they do not want to assist this military family. Considering our initial experience with them, this is not surprising. NAF obviously has no regard for the military. Rest assured, we will be refinancing with another company following this deployment.

If this was the last mortgage funding company on the planet I would refuse their service. They instructed the title to be set up incorrectly and it is costing us more than $5,000 to fix and it has taken nearly 2 years of our attorneys time. We have documented emails when their team instructs the title to be set up as if it was a business transaction when our grandmother was co signing for us. Any one with half a brain knows this is not the way this title should be set up so that when grandma passed away we would need to go through probate verses transitioning to our ownership. I have the email when NAF directs the way the title is to be set up (which they are NOT supposed to do EVER). I currently own 2 properties and will be purchasing another but will never give this company my business again and would urge no one else to either.

Unfortunately I had a terrible loan experience with this company even though they brag about their great customer reviews. If that were the case why did they not ask me to give my review? Loan officers were unprofessional and kept you wondering what was going on. So glad the process is over, painful 3 months!

Attempted to refinance with these jokers. Zero stars. Completely unprofessional. Andrei Atanasiu ignores your phone calls and emails once he finds out your file isn't an easy close. He'll stop answering your calls and emails. I had to call a loan processor who was copied on one of my emails, just to figure out there was a problem with debt to income ratio. Once there is a problem, the rep is done, and onto the next prospect. Very unprofessional. Glad this happened because if they actually were servicing my real mortgage, I would be a little worried right now. We weren't even using my wife's income yet. Find a new company to work with.

This was the absolute worst experience of our lives. My wife applied for a mortgage from this place and was pre-approved right away by our loan officer Kat Lee. To be fair, Kat was a pleasure to deal with, but unfortunately for us Kat went out on maternity leave in the middle of the process and that’s when the clusterf*** began. Her team from her manager Shawn to her process assistant Cynthia totally dropped the ball. Communication was virtually non-existent. Shawn never once answered any e-mails, phone calls, etc. from us about the loan. Cynthia was just as bad with communications, when we did get something it was generally one- or two-word responses. While yes, the loan FINALLY closed and was funded, our closing was delayed 5 TIMES. It was 5 times that they actually scheduled closing with the title company and at the last second pulling the closing with another loan requirement, and it was all stuff that should have been disclosed or asked for well before the last second. Everyone from the title company to both parties and their realtors could not believe or have ever experienced dealing with a loan service this inept. The final straw was asking for something that FHA REQUIRES for a loan on a property with a private well and a septic tank and field. This requirement has to do with distances between the well and the septic tank and field and could have resulted in a denial of an FHA loan. FHA REQUIRES a mortgage company to KNOW what the requirements are for an FHA loan. These clowns did not know what was involved with doing an FHA loan with a well and septic. We had already moved over 1000 miles and were in the place on the assurance that this loan was good to go and it wasn’t. We could have lost EVERYTHING and been homeless because of their incompetence. We ended up closing 10 days late, our sellers were ready to pull the plug on the deal and evict us. The stress was unbelievable on my wife and myself. Do yourself a favor and skip right by this circus.

Expect to get harassed if you ever speak to them. They throw you on a robodialer. Received 3 calls before 9am from them even after telling the first person it was early and I'd call back later when I had time. Then kept receiving calls at work. Worst mistake reaching out to these people....
