New American Funding Reviews

Working with Rodrigo was an absolute nightmare. He was pretty good at responding until I went under contract, then he wouldn’t answer calls. Emails he would take many days to respond if he even did. He gave me different numbers every time we talked. He was never straight forward about any of the costs associated. He said closing would be x amount of dollars and then the next week he was giving a different amount almost $2k more. And to top it off less than 30 days til close he said he didn’t have time for me and dropped me as a client. Very unpleasant to talk to. He would talk down to me and be passive aggressive with his commentary. Do your self a favor and look anywhere else. The fees for Fairway are also double of the other lenders I have dealt with.

I want to share my extremely disappointing experience with Jon Williams and New American Funding (NAF) in hopes it helps others avoid the same stress and frustration. I began my mortgage application process with a pre-approval on April 21, 2025, and the full file was received by NAF on May 2, 2025. For the next 51 days, I stayed responsive and submitted every document they requested—many of them more than once due to poor internal tracking. Despite my cooperation, the process was riddled with delays, miscommunication, and a complete lack of accountability. My assigned processor, Elisa, never returned a single phone call, voicemail, or email. Jon, while polite early on, failed to follow through on key steps, including initiating basic verification processes like a mortgage credit supplement until nearly seven weeks into the process. I was never informed that third-party vendors would be contacting me to request sensitive financial information, and I had to verify their legitimacy on my own. A rate lock was added without my consent, increasing my closing costs by over $3,600. I was issued three different closing disclosures, none of which led to a clear to close. Even after setting a firm deadline for resolution, NAF continued to stall and ultimately couldn’t deliver a clear to close in time for my extended purchase deadline. I formally withdrew my application on June 21 after it became clear the deal would once again be pushed back. This was one of the most stressful and poorly managed financial processes I’ve ever experienced. I would not recommend working with Jon Williams or New American Funding to anyone looking for a smooth or professional mortgage experience.

Due diligence. ....better more prompt communication. Maybe ask if there is a mortgage on the property instead of just relying on a credit report.

Ray strung us along for 8 months costing us thousands of dollars in legal fees while we waited desperately for a closing that never came. Completely dropped the ball, and we may lose the house.

As a real estate professional, I hold myself to a high standard and expect the same from those I work with, especially when it comes to something as important as financing a home. Unfortunately, my experience with this loan officer and his team was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. There was a complete lack of communication and follow through. Despite multiple calls and messages, I received no response during critical moments of the loan process. My client, a first-time buyer and a close family friend, was left confused and anxious. The seller and two other pending transactions were also affected by the delays caused by this team’s negligence. We submitted everything early in good faith, based on assurances that closing would happen on time. But the mortgage package was not received on time. This level of disorganization is unacceptable. What’s worse, when I escalated the issue to the loan officer’s manager and regional manager, there was zero urgency, empathy, or accountability. Their lack of responsiveness only made the situation worse. I would never recommend this company or this lending team to any of my clients in the future. Professionalism, clear communication, and respect for people’s time and money should be non-negotiableunfortunately, this team failed in every category.

Better communication, proper closing timeline and not being berated on the phone day of closing.

Unpleasant is not a strong enough word to describe what the lender and his procesxor, Michelle Huebner put a buyer client through. The client, who was my buyer client as Realtor, received terrible coaching--it any at all. Throughout the transaction, he was not made aware of dates and the importance of them. In addition, I provided a document to the lender regarding the appraisal, and it sat for over a week without any movement, thus stalling the closing yet further. They stated that we'd close on the contracted date and they did not deliver so I had to amend the contract for a day later. A day later, I then had to amend it again, as the processor asked was dishonest telling me the title company was supposed to inform me, that was not true. Even if it was, it's not on the title company to tell teh Realtor to communcate a stalled closing, it's on the lender--the title company does not write the amendment. Twice, during the transaction, the lender sent an email to an agent at a competing firm, instead of me, an agent who was never ever party to the transaction. I told Adam this the first time it occurred, and then it occured a second time, putting the client confidentiality at risk both times, let alone leaving me out of the correspondence. The day of the closing, my buyer client was not even aware that he owed nearly $10K in cash to close, and furthermore, he had to wire the money himself with no guidance whatsover on the lending side. The lender also, failed to orchestrate the awful online closing experience, with the client being unable to log in to a virtual closing with a notary. Our local title company provided the closing docs to the lender way out in front of the closing and none of those documents came back signed. The title company here is still cleaning up the horrible mess created by the lender and he commented to me and the lender directly, that this was the WORST lender he has worked with in over 25 years in the industry. I feel bad for the client, the amount of stress they endured during this fiasco. New American Funding: Do Better.
