He got the job done, but telephone communication skills need improvement. I was frequently interrupted and felt like he was not always listening. That said, he helped shepherd the application through, and I appreciate that.

Michael was extremely friendly and communicative, which was great, but it sometimes felt like his general knowledge of the process was not up to par (e.g., suggesting that ordering an appraisal was the seller's responsibility). I was inappropriately advised at least twice and communications were not always clear. As a general revision to processes at New American Funding, I would also suggest moving electronic consent to earlier on. It was frustrating having to ink sign documents only to receive an e-consent form afterward. Overall, the closing process was extremely smooth and Michael was pleasant, but by the end we often felt like we needed to "double-check" information rather than take Michael's word for it, which was frustrating as a first-time homebuyer.

Nothing really.

Can’t really say much, it was mostly just email communication with loan updates in where we were in the process. I don’t think we had any personal interaction. I mostly worked with the other people on the team.

There were so many people that we were communicating with it was hard to keep track of who was who and who was doing what. It was confusing.

Initially Ray quoted an interest rate that was incorrect. For whatever reason he did not have our correct income even though all sources of our income had been submitted and verified. He was a nice young man, but obviously inexperienced. Ray was the best part of working with NAF. Working with the underwriters was very difficult. They were totally hung up on our social security income. They had our 2021 income tax showing our $130,000 yearly income and the sources, we sent our bank statements showing our direct deposit of social security, we sent the 2021 statements from the SS Admin. We sent the statements from SSA showing the COLA increase for 2022 and they still required written statements from SSA dated in 2022, that we had to request and wait for. It just seemed like harassment. I would never apply for another loan through NAF. I am not sure if this entire crew were learning their jobs or what. This was a refinance. Our original loan was through NAF and it was very professional and quick. This was like working with an entirely different organization.
