The loan officer located at this branch (Downey) never returned my calls. She never assisted us on a huge error. Didn't see a reason to not communicate with us since she assisted with the sale of our home. I don't recommend New American Funding. They never returned our calls or our emails. -1 star

The worst experience I've had with a mortgage company. Being required to validate a liability that doesn't exist is absurd. People are better off going somewhere else for a loan.

Sandra Ruiz takes forever processing loans. I would not recommend this mortgage lender. She avoids calls and does not return calls.

These guys are the worst, one star was two to many. Go somewhere else for your mortgage needs. Want proof? Here's a little copy of an email conversion with them. Hey Guys, I talked to Jim and he is recommending pulling my file from Gary and going with a different lender to get stuff done right and on time. Trish sent us the name of a lender in Hayward who has been wonderful as well as quick and has me approved already. If it weren't for the wonderful and amazing Ellen Ruud I would have pulled out of Marketplace earlier. Gary and his team, save Ellen, seem to have been as useful as a sweaty buttcrack and I apologize to all those involved for the rampant incompetence, endless excuses and at times unprofessional behavior I have inadvertently subjected you to. To Gary and the team, please discontinue any proceedings with my file and destroy it. Sincerely, Chad Chad, I am sorry that you feel that way about Gary and his team. Gary ate, slept and breathed your loan for two weeks trying to figure it out for you. No one else would have put that much time into your loan. I am glad that you have found a place to get your loan done, despite the fact that you use name calling like a 8 year to feel good about yourself. Congratulations on your new home and we appreciate the opportunity we had to get your loan done. Jim Steel | Sales Manager | NMLS #376338 Marketplace Home Mortgage, LLC 13700 Reimer Drive N Ste 100 | Maple Grove, MN 55311 Jim, Like the saying goes, a lack of preparation on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part. I was Johnny on the spot with everything he ever asked for and sometimes even ahead of him. We had 6 weeks from offer to closing and 3 weeks from inspection to closing. Nothing was gone through until 4 business days before closing and the seller had to go back twice before we ran into an issue that couldn't be fixed. Once I would understand, 2 little glitches I could see but three major issues at no fault of mine or the seller is unacceptable. Not to mention yelling at the receptionist at Noah insurance because he didn't send a request for the binder until the afternoon after we were supposed to close. This whole attempt at a transaction went beyond disappointing. My fiance was in tears and I burnt through a bottle and 2 packs of smokes last Friday when we were given the clear to close and spent an hour in the truck to figure out we couldn't close 20 minutes from the appointment, the disappointment was crushing. I don't care if he slept and ate my file for 2 weeks, he should have napped and snacked my file for 4 and had everything go smoothly. I'm sorry a little play on words bruised your egos so much to be construed as name calling enough to have a few chardonnays and take to the keyboard. Btw, I'll be kind enough to not hit reply all so all your contemporaries don't know how little I think of you now as well. Chad

I wish I could give them 0 stars. I am so severely disappointed in, not only the way my mortgage was (unsuccessfully) handled, but also with the severe lack of customer service after I was clearly wronged. We had to change our closing date 6 times over the course of 4 months and every time things came up that should have been taken care of much earlier in the process. The entire process felt extremely disorganized and frantic which, for a first time homebuyer, was very disorienting. I was left in the dark on multiple forms, was told to sign things I didn't understand, and was surprised with new fees every step of the way. After I decided to finally switch mortgage companies everything was buttoned up and we closed in a matter of a couple weeks. Finally, when all was said and done, Marketplace didn't even honor their closing guarantee to me, which states that if closing is delayed they will pay the buyer a fee. Avoid at all costs.

Like another person stated, that their mortgage process was delayed several times, and mishandled, that less than 14 hours of closing, we lost our home we were to close on. Only due to their errors. Interest rates had gone up, and our closing was pushed to the very end. We were so behind grief with everything. Totally packed, moving company reserved. All a bad dream. Thankfully we did find a much better, mortgage lender, and was smooth sailing into a different home that we had lost. Are we better off in this home, than the one we didn't close on? Well, considering how the closing also affected others down the line, as their home closings got messed up, I would have to say NO! We even wrote to the attorney general with our complaints. (which were handled very professionally.) I am still sadden that we lost the house that we feel in love with the first time.
