More communication. I needed clarity to make sure I was on the same page and I couldn't get my questions answered until I spoke with the agent at the subdivision.

Review by Natalie Schultz-Purves for Kyle Norris

Completed transaction on March 24, 2026

Although very kind and clearly a great person and father, as a loan officer, Kyle Norris was much less helpful than I expected or hoped for. He opened the conversation by telling me he was passionate about educating his clients. This did not seem to be the case. As a new homeowner, I’m sure there were things I could have looked into more thoroughly, but I expected my loan officer to at least explain the essentials clearly. I would at least have liked him to listen better to the information I shared, the ideas I had, and the potential pitfalls I was concerned about. We would have avoided many delays and much confusion if he had been listening to me when we spoke on the phone, instead of talking over me and ignoring my concerns. He was often difficult to reach and did not take enough time to educate me on many crucial details needed to close smoothly. Throughout my experience with NAF, I was asked for the same documents and proofs multiple times after already sending them. This did not inspire my confidence in the loan officer or the processor. It felt as if they were not looking closely at details, listening to me, or working to connect the dots that I had already connected for them. Due to my dissatisfaction with this process, I will be looking for a new lender to refinance through as soon as I can.

Review by Vernon Wells for Brooke Blake

Completed transaction on March 15, 2026

Mrs Blake was always friendly and very attentive in the beginning. After the initial paperwork it seems as if she was not very accessable. It could have been other cases or personal matters that made her unreachable on days. All the way to the night before we needed to be funded for another closing we were very nervous on wether or not NAF was going to complete this HELOC as needed. Mrs Blake is friendly, knowledgable and seems to be a hard worker but for this case a little to frequently unreachable to warrant a better review.

Poor communication ALL around. I wouldn't recommend New American Funding to anyone. Our entire loan process was nothing short of a headache and nuisance. Your company needs to focus more on training your loan officers and others involved with any loan transaction.

Review by Eddie Damarcus Anderson for Tony Collier

Completed transaction on February 28, 2026

Tony was great in the beginning and helped us get the process started smoothly. Toward the end, communication wasn’t always clear and we had some concerns that felt overlooked. However, we did make it to closing, and we appreciate the effort it took to get us there.

Review by Emma Fillmore Carroll for Jake LaBelle

Completed transaction on February 20, 2026

My husband and I wish we had a pleasant experience during our first home buying process. We used Jake as a referral from our realtor however it wasn't a great experience. We both work in healthcare, long hours, and informed our lender from the very beginning that we will both be working a lot of overtime to come up with our down payment. At the end of the day we were able to hustle $14k a week prior to our closing date. During the entire 45 days leading up to close we were constantly harassed about our money savings which was completely disrespectful. Then after all that our down payment went from an estimated of $13k, to $7k to back to almost $10k all within 24 hours of closing. My husband and I think there was a huge lack of client relationship we felt we were treated with very minimal respect . In the future if you EVER have a client that doesn't want to use down payment assistance, require biweekly bank statements so your client doesn't feel like they are being harassed. We take a lot of pride working as a nurse and paramedic firefighter, we work our butts off for what we want and instead we were treated like a number, only thing that mattered was the money , if it was going to be such an issue, or since we felt doubted the entire time saving our money, we would have never used our lender. We are proof of a hard working couple who busted their butts for their first home. Please treat people with more respect buying their first home!

First, I already had an existing mortgage with NAF. It was only one year old when I started the process. You already knew the property from the previous appraisal of $207,000. I submitted a new appraisal of $208,000. Your underwriter didn't like my appraisal and ordered a new one which came in at $205,000. Then that appraiser had a problem with one of the rooms that 3 previous appraisers had no problem with. I complied with every request from your processor within 24 hours during the week and by Monday 8:00 am est when requested on a Friday. E though I did my part quickly and efficiently it seemed like your responses took a week and almost always dropped on a Friday. In the beginning everything moved quickly but as it dragged on your response time got slower and slower. The whole process took longer than it should have I am very disappointed in your company and next time I will look elsewhere. does the phrase know your customer ring a bell?

Review by Meagan A Barker for Thad Pracht

Completed transaction on February 7, 2026

We wish there was better explanation of the VA one time closing process. We assumed we didnt close until the house was built and nobody clarified that for us. We also have a high interest rate that we assumed would have been lowered before we closed and it wasn't. Thad is also having health problems and I would have assumed that his boss would have stepped up and filled in while Thad was unavailable. We went into closing on a days notice and was not even told about bringing the check until we got there. Praise the lord we had the funds available because our assumption was that we didn't close until the house was built. We are very disappointed with this process being so long also. We applied in September and just now closed. We had a few bumps in the road with miscommunication with Beth and Laura and that didnt help anything.
