There was a lack of communication during the entire process. Once it was discovered that the numbers we were originally given were incorrect and it would not be possible for us to buy down the PMI without putting down 20% a phone call, email or even text should have been sent out. We found out 2 hours before we were due to close after our agent called to verify the final amount we needed to bring to close. He was told that the closing would need to be moved to Tuesday. He pushed back and we were told the closing would be pushed back a few hours. LaShan called me at 1:45 pm and explained that they were working to get the numbers corrected and to get everything to the closing attorney within the next few minutes so we could move forward with closing on Monday. She said she would call me back in 15 minutes to let me know if things had been completed. I did not hear from her until 9:45 pm when my realtor called me on a three way call. The call was to explain the updated closing disclosure that was sent over at 5:29 pm with no explanation. Prior to this point we were told there was a system issue that was causing the fees to be too high. The updated closing disclosure included PMI when we previously discussed us paying it up front. During the call she explained that we could not pay down the PMI without putting down 20%. We were given two other options, but that would require the loan to be restructured and the closing would have to be pushed to Friday. We could not push the closing back to Friday. My husband rearranged his schedule at work, I took the week off, my parents took time off to help us move and we had U-Haul trucks that had to be turned in on Wednesday night. All of these arrangements along with utilities, service appointments and homeowner's insurance were all started and scheduled based on the original closing date of August 23 that we have been working towards for weeks. As soon as an issue was discovered we should have at least received an email. My agent should not have been told 2 hours before the closing that we couldn't close that day. If he didn't call would we find out when we arrived for the closing at the attorney's office? The lack of communication is my issue and the frustrating part of my experience with LaShan at New American Funding. I completely understand that we may have been given the wrong information initially, but the fact that we weren't told that until 9:45 pm on Monday, is unacceptable. I will not and cannot recommend to anyone that they apply for a mortgage with New American Funding. I wouldn't want anyone else to have the same experience. It's disappointing because I know others who have worked with LaShan and had a great experience but I can't risk someone having the experience that we had.

Allen Hinson was my Loan Officer originally. He was very good at staying in contact throughout the process, however I emailed him several times towards the end of the process and never received a reply. Jacqueline Bui, his processor had contacted me so I told her I had not heard anything from Allen. She informed me at that time that Allen was no longer with the company and that Luke had taken over the loan. I had never received one email from Luke in regards to the loan. Thank goodness Jacqueline was very good at staying in touch, otherwise I would not have had any idea why Allen had not replied to my emails. So as far as rating Luke, I cannot do that as I never had any communication with him. I would have thought he would have at least reached out.

If I could give ZERO stars to Grace I would. I’ve been in contact/communication with her for over a year preparing for a new construction and second purchase of an investment property. Only to be 21 days from closing and her “finally” giving me my numbers 1- after running my credit without my permission , 2- the numbers being Completely different than what she’s advised me over the last 12 months. 16k in closing costs! She’s dishonest and has left me homeless with all this! Horrible person!

Our experience would have been better if they had communicated their failure to lock in the rate promised in a timely manner so we could have adjusted closing date, not given notice to our rental property, and not scheduled moving truck to start loading our household goods.Their staff needs to be diligent in communicating key dates and documents which are needed on a timely basis. This closing was very painful and costly to us.

After my closing I realized the percentage of the loan was at 5% and my credit is above 750 and other loaners offered me less than 4%
