Better communication was needed. I felt like We had to reach out to see what was needed rather than the lender reaching out proactively. This made me feel like our loan was not that important. I felt as though processes were slowed down beyond what would be reasonably expected even in the midst of a spike in the housing market. Our appraisal took 5 weeks to get back and then the response to the appraisal left us in a nearly impossible spot. Overall, just felt disregarded and like we really had to check the work over and over to make sure everything was correct.

So, I spoke to Joni Darr about looking into lending for us to purchase a modular home. She assured me they had funding for low credit scores & also assured me it was just a soft check. Both apparently not true. Unsure why her information shows about 50 points off from what the same site she's using says when I checked our credit monitoring app. So then she ran my husband's credit and it was a SUPER HARD HIT. Literally about 2 hours after checking his credit again, it went down almost 40 points!!!! I regret contacting this company. They apparently will say anything to get that credit ran. How can you trust this company to handle your home financing when they're lying to you right off the bat. And with his score still being over 600, they obviously don't work with average credit scores.

I prefer to receive updates throughout the transaction so I can stay in the loop. It's helpful when I'm working with my clients . I didn't receive updates throughout and I didnt know who the point of contact was until 1 day before closing. We closed and we absolutely appreciate that.

I’ve been a loyal customer of New American Funding for over 10 years, and this experience has completely changed my view of the company. Recently, my payment was returned twice due to my bank flagging it as potential fraud — something entirely outside of my control and a common security measure today. Instead of working with a long-time customer or showing any understanding, New American Funding immediately punished me with late fees and blocked me from making future payment by only paying using certified check. This feels misleading and unfair. A company that claims to support its customers should not be profiting from technical banking issues or treating loyal clients like they’re disposable. After more than a decade of on-time payments, this rigid and punitive behavior is unacceptable. Customers should be aware that even fraud-related bank flags can result in penalties, with no flexibility or customer-first approach. Very disappointed. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this lender to read the fine print carefully and be prepared for zero leniency.

The loan team needs to have better communication with the buyer, especially first time home buyers. They went back and forth on important things and there was no clear expections. My realtor was appauld with the communication and how unknowledgable the loan team was. I was told a total of 5 different numbers for expected closing costs so it was hard to be prepared. I then recieved a final email that my closing costs where roughly $200. I found out the night before closing that The loan advisor didn't properly read my purchase agreement. He got my concessions wrong even though it was clearly outlined on my purchase agreement if He would have just read it properly and then tried arguing with me that he didn't make a mistake instead of owning it and doing what he could to fix it. He then tried to raise my interest on the home to fix the mistake so that I would be paying for his mistake for the next 30 years. I had to advocate for myself more than I should have. Also, he gave me no clear expectations about what he needed after closing such has a bank statement showing I paid closing costs. He called me the night of my closing when i was trying to celebrate and told me I needed to send him another gift letter. he didn't ask how I paid closing to get clarification and then let me know what was needed from me . He made no sense, and then when I was angry Because of the experience he Wouldn't stop calling me and texting me about the gift letter for money I didn't need or use for closing. But he didn't bother to ask me this. I didn't even get to enjoy my closing. His partner Judy (also terrible) then emailed me telling me I needed to pay $4000 after I already closed. The communication was terrible. There werent clear expectations. This was a horrible experience and I regret using this company. My realtor stated that she never worked with Such terrible loan advisors. My realtor reported that Judy would request documentation, then state that's all she needed, she would later come back for more. She was asking my realtor for things that were done on the sellers side, she was not Clear and concis. I believe they both would benefit from more training.

I was upfront about what I could spend. I was using my late husband’s VA loan. They decided at the last moment I needed to come up with $11000 with sellers helping with closing. I feel like they are dishonest & maybe predatory

I did not appreciate my mortgage being sold off twice immediately and the one I now have is hard to deal with.

No returned calls ever! Terrible communications, he changed sellers assist at last minute and refused to reduce any fees after all the grief they caused a client. He and his assistant both were off for a week at seperate times . One said they were sick the other said out if the office . They didnt balance with title and needed to fix that as well and held up closing for an extra 3 days. Worse transaction of the year. Never again!
