The process started out really well. Robert kept in touch with us and made sure we understood next steps. However nearing the middle to end of the process, it was hard to reach Robert. I sent emails and left voicemails, but it took Robert, sometimes, 1-2 days to respond. The same can be said about our private lender’s experience, where she would email us to get answers to questions she had. Having to find other representatives to answer questions Robert, being our loan officer, should have been available to answer, was both inconveniencing and a bit embarrassing. My overall experience would have been great if the end of the process was different. The representatives would say things like, “sorry I didn’t have time to respond due to my work load’, or “I’ve been swamp all day”. I understand the workload at times can be daunting, but as a customer, maybe telling me doesn’t help with my overall perception. Having to contact a supervisor shouldn’t be a priority, would love to have finished this process with Robert, being we started with him. However, that was not the case, which for me made the process in some ways unsatisfied. One other thing, having multiple people call us about the same issue can be annoying. Maybe implement a system where it’s uniformed and information is shared. That will probably eliminate the frustration that comes with repeated calls regarding the same question.

Sean did well enough but the underwriting process was extremely slow and frustrating. We submitted everything requested in less than 2 days each time and then it would take 2 weeks to hear back that they needed "just one more thing". This went on for MONTHS. Some of the things requested were just silly like a letter stating that I knew how long my commute was, which I have been making for years, and that I wasn't going to change my mind and move. What we needed was a list of things at the beginning that were required so that we could provide them in a timely manner and not to be strung along for months with random requests. Many of the things requested had nothing to do with our ability to repay the loan. The thing that I would hope for the next people is that there would be more control of the silliness of the underwriting and working with them to give a list of requirements up front and them holding them to the list rather than letting them run-amok.

Pretty inaccurate numbers given at the beginning of the process and we were not updated when those numbers changed. We found out at closing. We would not have refinanced if we knew before then

We were not able to close on the original closing date. We did everything possible to make this happen. All documents were turned in a very timely manner. However, the underwriting too forever and more and more documents were needed. Then the funding was extremely slow. We waited at the title office to close for hours and finally had to go home and revise the contract to close on another day.

Neither my realtor nor I was kept in loop about late closing or problems, not mine, with same. I live in California and bought a house in Illinois and getting all the paperwork done from California (I am a disabled Veteran and my son must travel with me) was quite confusing.
