I had left at least three messages with Sam and none of them were ever returned. Our interactions started out great, even pleasant. But getting ahold of him after that initial phone call was next to impossible. The only time he called me back was when I went around him and talked to other people. I get it people are busy, but I was one day away from cancelling the entire deal since no one would return my phone calls. I will not recommend New American and I will likely also inform the VA.

Our experience overall was unexpected and we were displeased with the lack of communication. We were very diligent in making sure we got our information in and retuning request within a timely fashion. However, we felt that it was a one way street and it was not reciprocated. Email request for clarification and phone calls made were either not returned, ignored and/or took several days to get a return response. In certain situations we had to make additional inquires and request constant updates

There was no communication with updates. Closing date was missed by 2 days causing rescheduling of movers, utilities, etc.

This whole process was a disaster the way the loan was handled the money lost for unnecessary travel the failure to give accurate information this is the worst experience I’ve had in purchasing a home in my life I am so happy that this experience is finally over I am now working very hard to recoup from the Financial losses to put me back on track as planned it is my hope and prayer that the next persons who work with your organization receive more coordinated truthful and careful actions taken

More timely updates and transparency in the process. Also more accurate estimates of costs involved to close the loan. The estimated cost to close significantly increased and there were last minute surprises.

The gift of equity was not explained well at all. Not once were we told until the day prior to closing that the seller would have to bring a check for the gift amount. As we understood it, the gift was included in the loan, not provided by the seller in check form. We also were told that NAF did not participate with any down payment assistance program but their website states that if a lender says that to not go with them so got conflicting information. It was overall very frustrating.

Appraisal was wrong! I had 2 previous appraisals including the finished basement, suddenly I’m told finished basement doesn’t count for square footage! BS!!! Too late so had to close to get the rate I was promised now I have to pay BS PMI for 5 years!
