The entire refinance experience with New American was frustrating, time consuming and unpleasant. There was poor communication regarding timelines and expectations, I had to reach out multiple times for updates. When something was needed from me, I was asked repeatedly to send it (which I always did within 24hours) , but then things were stagnant for months. I was lied to on the day of closing, stating there was no notary available when in fact the documents weren't ready. Terrible experience

Things were different at closing than discussed and shown to us. We should have seen that before the closing date. It took a long time to get this completed. The attorney was an hour late and no one was there to represent the loan to discuss questions.

We began our refinance with Tom in August. We received initial document requests as early as 8/21/20. We did not need an appraisal so we were told our refinance would be quick. We did not close until mid December! During the long waiting period we received many offers from other financial institutions with better rates than we were offered with New American, our existing mortgage company. We felt there was not much effort to expedite the loan or to ensure we got the best rate possible.

Glitches and I constantly had to.track down I formation that lenders in the past did. Was very time consuming.

Better communication would have changed my overall rating. It would have been nice to have an estimate of how long this refi would take. I know there were some things that we were waiting on, but it would have been nice to know what was going on. This was the longest most drawn out loan I have ever done.
