New American Funding Reviews

Better communication. James seems knowlegeable and generally courteous. He didn't respond within the time he said he would on a couple of occasions, which was annoying. Also, the escrow company really messed things up. They sent my closing papers and check to my tenant at the refinanced property - who opened it and saw all the confidential info. She had to mail me the check and closing statement, which took a couple of weeks longer. That was a big mistake.

James was much more disconnected from the process this time and Jonathan was not able to effectively meet our needs without repeatedly explaining our requirements and redoing paperwork. We expected a much more efficient process as we had experienced with James several times before.

Your underwriters need to be up front and have the list of items they will need. This just 1 more piece of information stinks. Professionals know what they need and ask for it in advance not dragging it out for weeks. Sometimes you have to use common sense yes a company has merged and the pay stubs will look different. Be human and not a monkey.

Once the process got taken over by underwriting, Mr. cook became a ghost. His follow up was scarce. He should have been the face of the entire process. Allowing the underwriters to communicate directly with me was frustrating and some of the hoops I had to jump through we simply ridiculous. My experience is always bad though, so don’t feel bad. I get put through the ringer for being self employed. It’s not fair

There were highlights in the experience, but there was a communications gap between Courtney and my husband. We appreciated them working with us at first, but after the gap it was never the same. As the breadwinner, I felt cheap from questions about my employment history. We'd lost our jobs to COVID, I refused unemployment, found a job, but was made to feel substandard when asked my longevity in my career. After sharing 40 yrs., wanted a month of check stubs before closing. Longest closing ever.
Review by Neil Rosenberg for Marcell Walker
Completed transaction on July 2, 2021
Marcel was reassigned after the original mortgage officer drop the ball. He got the job done and much of disatisfaction is not related to him. Had I started with Marcell I probably would had a different experience However new American was a very negative experience for me. Things dragged on forever with multiple requests for information I previously provided. The underwriting group was fairly incompetent and the loan closer Meredith was very pleasant , worked hard but never set expectations.

I am really disappointed on how my refi went about. I was the one that had to call the underwriter to find out the status of my loan, then i had to call my attorney which informed me she was waiting on the mortgag company. I had to wait another week because the UW did not have VOE which cause me to lose the lender credit. Which Jeff NEVER told me that I had a chance of losing the $435 credit. Never was that mentioned that if I did not close before the end of the month I would lose the credit.
