I went with Omni Fund because they offered the best re-fi rate. However, they failed to make sure that the lender had actually locked in that rate, so we lost 1/8%. The online document signing was great, very convenient. However, I was not kept informed of periodic progress. A week or more would go by without hearing anything until I enquired. They were responsive at that point and would let me know about some delay or other difficulty. It would have been MORE helpful and reassuring for them to have taken the initiative to keep me informed about what the next step was and when I should expect it. At this point, I am still waiting for the loan to be funded.

When we first communicated I was told the interest rate was about 4.2%, and I called back when the loan personnel was off his boss told me 3.5%. I feel this was a deception. These are some issues that minorities like me still face in America. A research just came out recently that minorities are still facing unfair lending practices where they pay more 5.3 extra basis points than other borrowers. This has to stop!

I am not a strong communicator via technology and prefer to work with people face-to-face. I fear my lack of finesse set in motion my struggle with email communications causing confusion. While I appreciate the "tool kit" I was sent, I felt it an unreasonable solution to human communication - not sure who has time to read it when they are working, selling/buying a house, and moving. I did appreciate the weekly updates via email. That routine communication gave me a sense of forward movement

The process was much slower than normal. The lender was very late getting started and getting the appraisal ordered. I will say she communicated much better at the end even though it was slow getting docs to title.

It was hard to get direct answers on a few things & very frustrating for the buyers & myself. I felt some of our questions Louis should have known without having to ask underwriting first. Because of that, there was a couple day delay on getting answers & some were never answered. The buyers told me at closing they were not confident until the day before closing that they were going to be able to close. This was very stressful for them & disappointing for being first time home buyers.
