Receiving our appraisal before the closing. A paper copy would also be appropriate. Return phone calls. The DK app was confusing and incorrect. It continually said we were missing forms we had submitted. The closing person was excellent and very prepared.

Our personal interactions were great but there were a few logistical things I can mention: We weren't sure about how long the process would take or what step we were on or if we were finished, and felt like we had to keep checking in to make sure it was progressing. Also, the online portal showed that we had completed some items that we were then emailed about that we needed to still complete, but then we just didn't do it (because we already had in the portal) and didn't hear back from the person that told us we still had things to do... so we just assumed we were go to go there but weren't exactly told that. I really liked getting the email updates with direct links to what we needed to submit, I think the portal looked simple and worked really well for us. But maybe something showing us a timeline or updating us as soon as we were on the next step would be helpful. We also got emails from a lot of different people and it wasn't always clear we should be passed on to the next person, so it felt a little strange sending sensitive materials to a name we hadn't heard before. I don't have a good suggestion on how to fix that except maybe an email introduction to the next processor type so we at least knew to look for a new person's name? Overall, we were happy with the personal interactions we had and thought that Shawn was incredibly helpful.

More/better communication. My fiance and I were under the impression we would have a bunch of options being first time home buyers, but since we weren't given information for requirements we did not. John did search for the best option available to us, but we got a bit of a run around. Up until the week before we planned on closing options were changing. Dacia was super helpful! She answered my questions. Home buying is difficult already, I had hope for better guidance during the process.

Competing rate offer that was 1/8 point better was not matched by Envoy and closing was too close to switch to the lender with the better rate. Other than not meeting the best rate (which is the most important part to me), Envoy did a good job closing our loan on a tight timeline and was very responsive to communications.

I started this process in July and closed just at the end of December. I’m definitely responsible for some of that delay. But not all. Also I feel a lower rate should have been available during that timeframe. I asked Steve about lowering the rate and he said it was possible one time. He never mentioned it again. When we finally closed I was getting offers for a full half point lower
