The loan process was a roller coaster experience and I wasn't sure if it was going to go through due to a funding delay. It did go through so it worked out in the end.

I did not have that great of an experience purchasing my home from out of the country as a first-time home buyer... I had to push closing date back twice, pay for a last-minute, one-day flight to US and then a large per diem penalty for things that I think could have been avoided if it was planned in advance. Overall, I feel like everyone could have communicated and prepared me to be in the US the last week of the transaction so I could have signed, transferred money and closed on time.
