My wife and I grew weary of repeated new requests for documentation and letters of explanation, particularly regarding assets unrelated to the transaction when the loan to value ratio of the refinance property was so low. The process went from an estimated couple of weeks until funding from time of initial document submission, to nearly two months

In the end the experience was fine and we successfully closed on our home. One thing that would have helped make feel less intrusive would have been to receive more in-depth explanations as to why they needed some of the information they requested. One example was when we were asked to give 2 years of tax returns then we were asked to give 3 years. I do not understand why tax returns from 3 years ago would have any relevance to our current jobs, income, or situation. We lived in completely different states, at different jobs, and we were not even married nor did we even know each other. So having a reason for why this information was needed would have been nice.
