The readiness of providing the CAF loan was great when we placed an unexpected offer on a home. However, the loan type turned out to be one that would have been financially burdensome. We did not have any liquid assets to open an escrow and was made to feel like this was something I should’ve have know would be needed and the amount exorbitant. The suggestion to borrow from family I didn’t appreciate. Given the circumstances now we are having to consider a traditional offer contingent on sale of house first and in conjunction with closing altogether and trying to figure out how to have liquid assets for escrow. I don’t have $10K laying around! I was glad the offer wasn’t taken.

I don’t think my negative experiences were because of New American. Getting through the final hurdles was painful, and actually continues to be. We’re still not finished and I have no clue whether to expect to be successful in getting a loan.

It was easy to communicate with the loan processor and Meghann kept us up-to-date with the status of the loan app. She was very helpful! Toward the end, when there was a lot of waiting for the appraisal approval, I felt we were not kept well informed of the cause of the delay. We appreciated Meghann's constant communication.
