We submitted documents electronically that had to be repeatedly sent over more than once. We were asked to review documents electronically, and on more than one occasion the information on the documents was incorrect. As a first-time homebuyer, this was frustrating because had we not caught those mistakes it could've cost us additional money that we were prepared for. There were instances where, if we were given enough time, we would have been able to complete tasks. More specifically, we were asked to complete two separate HUD certificates. This was not communicated to us until the week of our closing. Additionally, it was extremely frustrating that there was poor communication between the lawyer and Movement Mortgage. The final week of closing it was my responsibility to get a power of attorney while my wife was in the hospital after having a baby. Had we been given enough time this would've been no problem. I will say that Gene was always responsive whenever we called or texted. He was there to answer our questions in a professional manner. When there were mistakes Gene was able to offer a solution. Overall, additional time to submit documents and a one-time submission of documents would've helped the process. Additionally, a call-in or check-in (whether weekly or monthly) in addition to emails would've been better and help keep us better informed.

Dealing with Gene was excellent, and the receptionist in the Lexington office was very friendly. I never met Phoenix in person or was able to get him on the phone. I had to personally take everything to the Lexington office. I felt like some of the items were duplicates of things already supplied for the loan , but people did not want to read through the material to find it, they wanted us to supply it again. And again. Messages were never returned.

Most of everything went well with the actual loan process. Luke and his team were very fast . A few weeks later , we got word that our loan had been sold. The loan we had with our previous house had been sold several times and we had issues with the companies and the change overs . Almost everything about our previous house had gone poorly and left us skeptical . Part of why we went with this company was the assurance that the loan wouldn't be sold. We understand it's a business decision but it definitely shows that we were small fish and didn't matter as much. After this, I couldn't recommend them to a regular home owner unless you were buying a large house and brought in enough revenue to make the loan secure on their side.

I believe my situation was a bit more challenging than most, but everything still worked out well. - - We had old false liens on our home that needed to be cleared during the process (they were successfully removed). - I’m self-employed, which always adds extra layers of documentation and scrutiny. - The State of Illinois and Will County were extremely slow with their paperwork and approvals, which stretched the timeline. That said, whenever I had a question, I received clear answers in a very timely manner—usually the same day (often in the evening) or by the next morning via call or email. Overall, I was genuinely happy with the service and how the team handled a complicated loan application.

Mike was great but that title company and other agencies he had tonwork to work with seemed like they were always behind. The manner in which the disbursement of funds took place changed multiple times right up to funding. This was very frustrating.
