With almost 30 years in the mortgage industry, I've learned a few things. One of the biggest? Buying a home doesn't have to be overwhelming, and you don't need perfect credit, a giant savings account, or all your financial ducks lined up in a perfectly straight row. (Mine certainly don't always cooperate!)

I'm Karol Johnson, a mortgage loan officer with New American Funding, helping people buy homes and refinance mortgages anywhere in Utah! From Ogden and Salt Lake City to Price, Helper, Castle Dale, and everywhere in between, if you're buying or refinancing in Utah, I'd love to help.

I specialize in first-time homebuyers, Utah Housing programs, 100% financing options, FHA and conventional loans, refinancing, and helping people navigate credit challenges.

I was recognized as a Top Qualifying Loan Officer for Utah Housing in the first quarter of 2026, something I'm especially proud of because helping people achieve homeownership is what I love most about my career.

I use credit analysis tools to help borrowers understand what may be holding them back and develop a realistic game plan to move forward. Sometimes we're ready to buy today. Sometimes we need a little strategy first. Either way, you'll know where you stand.

I'm also a licensed Utah real estate agent with Equity Real Estate – Select, serving buyers and sellers in Box Elder, Weber, Davis, and Salt Lake counties. Having experience on both sides of a real estate transaction gives me a unique perspective on the homebuying process, from finding the right property to understanding the financing that makes it possible.

One of my favorite parts of this job is helping someone who thought homeownership wasn't possible discover that they may have more options than they realized.

I work with mortgage clients throughout all 29 Utah counties, including Weber, Davis, Box Elder, Salt Lake, Carbon, and Emery counties. Most of my mortgage business is handled conveniently by phone and online, so you don't have to rearrange your day to sit in a loan officer's office.
