Older people may need direct communication at the beginning of the application process, especially because it is online. I suggest an initial meeting, even though there is a pandemic. Just to go over what would be expected. There was confusion in the beginning, but I didn’t know that. That is, there was to be one loan, and the two of us each got requests for the same information. Phone calls were always responded to well.

The estimated cost of refi was about half what the final cost totaled. Also, we were refinancing to get a lower rate but also to pull $20,000 out of equity. We ended up $1,400 short.

Sam was great with first call when completing application but follow up after that was not so great. I sent multiple emails, left multiple voicemails. I inquired about additional information needed from me, the status of application, etc. I even tracked down his supervisor/manager who was not responsive either. Eventually I got a response 1-2 weeks later. Once it passed to the senior processor (Richard Busch), experience was exceptional.

Timeliness of communication could improve. There were a few time where I had to contact the Representative for an update or status. The lack of concern for timeliness ultimately delayed my closing date by over one month.
