I lead the Northbrook branch of New American Funding, serving homebuyers and homeowners throughout Chicago's North Shore. My team and I are licensed in Illinois and Indiana, and we work with a wide range of clients — from first-time homebuyers navigating their first mortgage to experienced homeowners refinancing or purchasing their next property.
Outside the branch, I go by the Mortgage Professor. The name reflects how I approach this work: education first. Buying a home is one of the largest financial decisions most people will make, and I believe clients deserve a lender who explains the process clearly rather than one who simply pushes paperwork through. Before joining New American Funding, I spent years in leadership roles with golf organizations including the USGA, CDGA, IJGA, and the Sunshine Through Golf Foundation — experience that shaped how I think about building long-term relationships with clients and referral partners alike.
I'm also an active member of the NSBAR Young Professionals Network Committee, where I stay connected to the real estate agents, attorneys, and other professionals who help North Shore families through the homebuying process.

Ryan and his team were very professional throughout the whole process and able to close in under 21 days (which was the seller's main condition). The level of stress from start to finish was minimal, and following the NAF website instructions was very easy (e.g., uploading documents, etc).

He truly took the time to understand our situation and where we were at in our home-buying journey.
