VA Home Loan Programs
The VA Home Loan program, supported by the Department of Veterans Affairs, provides eligible veterans and active duty personnel the opportunity to achieve the dream of homeownership. The program is designed to benefit our Armed Forces in honor of their commitment and service to our country.
The VA Home Loan helps veterans to buy a new home or refinance their current home.
Enacted in 1944 as part of the original Servicemen's Readjustment Act, the VA Loan Guaranty Program was part of a national effort to transition from a wartime economy to a peacetime economy, and to avoid the economic recession historically associated with postwar periods. The VA program acted as an alternative device to a cash bonus and was believed to better serve the needs of veterans. Supporters of the legislation believed that it was the Government's duty to provide the means, i.e. credit, needed for veterans to have a home, start a business or provide for their families in lieu of the forgone opportunity to build credit during their time of duty.
Today the VA Home Loan program continues to give the heroes of our country the opportunity to buy or build a home, or refinance a current VA home loan for more favorable terms.
